You get to visit various filming locations for the Lord of the Rings trilogy with an entertaining and knowledgeable guide who will bring the stories to life, share secrets about how locations were transformed into Middle Earth, and even let you re-live the action through your very own camera!
You handle and photograph over $15,000 worth of weapons and costumes and create your very own fantasy adventure film!
On this tour, experience the spectacular landscapes of featured films such as The Argonath (Pillars of the King), The Gladden Fields and The Ford of Bruinen. Learn about the history of gold mining while visiting the picturesque Arrowtown.

A perfect LotR day for nerds!
I had the best day trip with Trails of Middle Earth! Literally couldn't stop grinning and laughing from the jokes and beautiful stops we had along the way. And we could all participate in a rather small group of people, so you will not be bored. Loads of pictures, beautiful landscapes and memories and my personal highlight: Costums, swords and jewellery from a lot of characters. Plus the group photos we did were so fun. Our guide was Francesco who obviously had a lot of fun and could tell you a lot of fun facts about every filming location/actors/scenes ... You name it! All in all a perfect day for all the fellow LotR nerds out there :D

Loved it!! Couldn’t recommend highly enough
We absolutely LOVED our tour with trails of middle earth. The guide and owner (a true Tolkien nerd) took us to some incredible locations around arrowtown and Queenstown, had rare and original LOTR artefacts like film call sheets, all the swords, axes and even a replica of Sauron’s hand with the one ring. He made our day so special by filming a few scenes with the props and taking some really cool shots like us disappearing after wearing the one ring. Overall this was one of the most enjoyable experiences in Queenstown and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough if you’re interested in LOTR. He also told us the incredible story of the company and how it’s simultaneously the oldest and newest lotr based tour company in Queenstown - I’m so glad it is back in the hands of true fans.

Amazing
Amazing tour. Super friendly and passionate and overall just an amazing tour whether you're a lord of the rings fan or not. I'm not the biggest fan of this franchise but it definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
