We had reached Milford Sound early but due a long queue for paying parking we reached the eco tours counter one minute before departure. They had my number and never called me for the last call before departure. Moreover they asked me to pay for the next cruise(which a definite downgrade). Seems like they wait for people to get late and make more money out of them.
We ask people to check-in 30mins prior to their cruise departure. In effect, you were 29mins late. We are very busy during check-in time and we don't know who is going to be late or not during this process. If you had arrived 30mins earlier you will not have had a problem. Boarding closes 5mins before departure as the boat is being untied. For health and safety reasons people are not permitted to board during this procedure. Harbour control dictates boat movement s in the harbour and we need to be ready at departure time. You were ask to pay a nominal rate so we could transfer you. We could have asked you to go to another operator directly and pay their full rate, but we wanted to assist you getting on a cruise having driven all the way to Milford Sound even though we were not responsible for your lateness.
I have definitely enjoyed the scenic views around, and the guide was great, but the cruise was too much crowded that it was getting quite difficult to even move from one place to another. Filled with quite a lot of people! Would have loved if there were few people so everyone gets a fair chance to see the lovely views around.
